What is OneDrive?

Modified on Mon, 28 Apr at 5:46 PM

OneDrive is a Microsoft service where you can store all sorts of files and shared files are saved. Essentially, it’s Microsoft’s version of Google Drive or Dropbox. Your account automatically comes with 1TB of space. Any files you share within Microsoft Teams are saved here as well.

How We Use OneDrive

Thacker Broadcasting provides OneDrive via our service offerings to clients on certain plans. We encourage everyone to:

  • Save all work-related files to OneDrive (or SharePoint).
  • Share links instead of sending email attachments to collaborate more effectively and securely.
  • Use version history to recover previous versions of a document if needed (restrictions apply).

If you want to check if your OneDrive is active and syncing, look for the blue cloud icon in the bottom taskbar (pictured on the far left here).

If the icon has a line crossed through it (pictured below), your OneDrive account hasn’t been provisioned yet (meaning it is unavailable).

You can trigger the provisioning service by going to https://outlook.com and signing in with your company account. Then, in the top left corner, click the grid, then “OneDrive”.
