Microsoft Teams Not Connecting

If Microsoft Teams isn't loading, connecting to meetings, or syncing messages, here's how to fix it.


Symptoms

  • Chat messages not sending or receiving.

  • Outdated Teams app.
  • Network/firewall issues blocking Teams.
  • Cached data causing sync problems.


Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Restart Teams.
    1. Close the app fully and reopen it.
  2. Check Internet Connection.
  3. Clear Teams Cache.
    1. Fully quit Teams.
    2. On Windows: Press Windows + R, type %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams, and delete the contents of the folder.
    3. On Mac: Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams and delete the contents of the folder.
  4. Update Teams.
    1. Click your profile icon.
    2. Check for Updates.
  5. Sign Out and sign back in.
